Farrow & Ball

After living with Farrow & Ball colors for nearly a decade, we are thrilled that the Boston showroom offered to donate paint and consult with us on our project. They still use traditional pigments to create their paints, producing vivid colors that resonate and play under changing light and against other colors in the room. Even though we can’t paint until spring, once the weather warms up, we know of at least two colors we definitely want to use—Stone Blue and Dix Blue. We’ve already lived with them for years, and our house wouldn’t feel like home without them.

We remain indebted to our supremely talented, flexible, and upbeat website designer, Monica Mockus. Driven by a profound respect for the power of design and a passion for collaboration, she has helped us to sort through myriad design challenges since we started working together in December 2011. Her tenacious commitment helped us to sharpen the focus and objectives of the site, and her imaginative optimism made it a joy to create.

Anna, William, Meredith & Mark

We probably wouldn’t have gotten to know this beautiful region where we now live if it weren’t for my dear old friends from Rockport, Anna Brackett (left, with her husband, William Meyer) and Meredith Anderson (right, with her husband, Mark Williamson). Anna and I met in 1992, when we worked together at Guilford Press in New York. Through Anna I met Meredith, who lived in Brooklyn but moved with Mark to Gloucester in 2000 to raise their two sons, Jasper and Ivan. Anna and William stayed in New York to raise their daughters, Abby and Sadie, but she invited me to Cape Ann again and again to spend time at her parents’ magical quarry, where she grew up. Since we moved to the North Shore in September 2011, Meredith and Mark have invited us to dinner parties and introduced us to their local friends—and our contractors. Massachusett’s state plumbing inspector, Scott Padden, asked Kevin how he came from out of state and found such good people. The answer: Mark Williamson. He recommended our excellent electrician, Justin Heath, who led us to our excellent plumber, Greg Mahoney. We can’t wait to return their hospitality once we have a working kitchen.
